چکیده

We consider the modeling of complex spatial data that require the interpolation of values from collections of samples. We rst show that the approach based on extending DBMSs with new types is too restrictive to meet the needs of data such as moving objects, elevation maps, or other interpolated spatial data. We propose a data model based on the constraint database paradigm, which ooers major improvements on the state-of-the-art solutions. It provides an elegant and very simple logical data model, based on innnite sets which can be manipulated through their deenition with constraints. This model encompasses classical maps as well as complex interpolated data. Finally, query languages can be deened by classical means, based on relational calculus or algebra, with a low data complexity, suitable for most queries in practice. It is shown in particular that the complexity of the queries which depends generally exponentially upon the dimension of the data, can be reduced drastically.

Developing a BIM-based Spatial Ontology for Semantic Querying of 3D Property Information

With the growing dominance of complex and multi-level urban structures, current cadastral systems, which are often developed based on 2D representations, are not capable of providing unambiguous spatial information about urban properties. Therefore, the concept of 3D cadastre is proposed to support 3D digital representation of land and properties and facilitate the communication of legal owners...

Modeling and Querying Vague Spatial Objects Using Shapelets

Research in modeling and querying spatial data has primarily focused on traditional “crisp” spatial objects with exact location and spatial extent. More recent work, however, has begun to address the need for spatial data types describing spatial phenomena that cannot be modeled by objects having sharp boundaries. Other work has focused on point objects whose location is not precisely known and...

Reservoir water temperature modeling by geostatistical analysis of ASTER images (Case Study: Dez Dam, Iran)

Satellite data have been used for temperature modeling both in urban areas and water. This paperstudies viability of ASTER satellite images that provide high spatial and spectral resolution to model watersurface temperature, as a fundamental water quality parameter. This study is focused on Dez dam reservoirresiding in Khuzestan province, south west of Iran. After the image corrections required...

Multiple Representation Modelling and Querying

One challenge in spatial data modelling is related to multiple representation of geographic objects. While often associated with cartographic change of scale and generalization, it applies in fact to a wider range of data analysis situations. We discuss multiple representation issues from a data modelling point of view, with emphasis on hierarchical structures inherent to multiple resolution le...

تأثیر تغییرات مکانی بارندگی بر پیش‌بینی هیدروگراف سیلاب در حوضه‌های آبریز کوهستانی

In this study, the influence of spatial heterogeneity of rainfall on flood hydrograph prediction in three mountainous catchments in south west of Iran was studied. Two interpolation techniques including Thiessen polygons method and Inverse Distance Weighting method were applied to compare the rainfall patterns of surrounding rain-gages in hydrograph simulation with rainfall patterns of nearest ...
